Teenage aligners

Private Smartee clear aligners for teenagers, with no waiting list.

Self-refer for private treatment

Your £155 assessment fee comes off your treatment price. If you go ahead with private treatment after your private assessment, we take the £155 you paid off the total cost of your braces or aligners. On our payment plan, the £155 comes off your £900 deposit, so you pay a £745 deposit and your monthly payments stay the same. This does not apply to the cross-border (HSE) scheme.

Smartee clear aligners are thin, see-through trays that move teeth gradually, without brackets or wires. We offer them privately for teenagers, including those who did not qualify for health service (NHS) braces. There is no waiting list for private treatment.

What it costs

Private assessment£155
Super mild casesfrom £2,900
Moderate casesfrom £3,900
Complex casesfrom £4,900

Smartee clear aligners cost the same as metal braces. While the patient is younger than 18, our under-18s offer price is £2,900 (usually £3,900). Brothers, sisters and parents of our patients may also be able to use our sibling or parent offer. See all our costs.

Spread the cost over 12 months

Pay a deposit of £900, then the rest in 12 monthly payments. A £150 plan fee is added to the balance and spread across your monthly payments. For example, on £2,900 you pay 12 payments of £179.17 (£3,050 in total).

How long it takes

Private treatment usually takes 2–24 months, depending on complexity. Mild cases can often be quite straightforward to fix. The best time to start is usually between 12 and 14 years old, when most adult teeth have come through.

Wearing aligners every day

  • Wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, including while you sleep. They only work when they are in your mouth.
  • We recommend the 30-minute rule: never have your aligners out of your mouth for more than 30 minutes at a time.
  • Take them out to eat and to drink anything other than plain water, then brush your teeth before putting them back in.
  • After treatment, you will need to wear retainers every night (8 to 10 hours), for life. Read more about retainers.

Not sure whether aligners or braces would suit your teenager? Ask your clinician during your appointment. Treatment depends on a satisfactory assessment, and not everyone is suitable for aligners.

We are also an Invisalign provider. Invisalign aligners cost £1,000 more in each band: from £3,900, £4,900 or £5,900.
